CRCT Practice

Parents and Guardians, thank you for visiting this site!

The faculty and staff of Swainsboro Elementary School are dedicated to providing instruction designed to prepare your child to perform to their optimum on the 2010 CRCT.  The Georgia Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) will be administered to all third, fourth, and fifth grade students April 7 - 13, 2010.  Your child will be assessed in Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

The Georgia OAS is one of many ways that you can become actively involved in your child’s education.  We encourage you to sit with your child as they read and answer each question to understand their thought process as they tackle each question.  Since you will not be available to help them with the CRCT, allow your child to complete the tests on their own.  Make notes concerning miscues, misinterpretations, and careless errors.  Be aware of areas where they may have learning gaps.  Don’t miss an opportunity to witness them being successful!  And celebrate small and large victories.

There is a web site that you may use to allow your child to practice on items similar to those that they will encounter on the CRCT. Visit http://www.georgiaoas.org or click the link at the bottom of this page to use this valuable resource.

To help you prepare your child, you may access the Georgia Online Assessment System from your home computer, a computer at the public library, or the computer of a friend or relative.  Your child’s teacher sent home the “Quick Start Guide for Parents” earlier this year.  Your child’s personal Logon ID and Password were also sent home.  Please contact the school if you need assistance with this information or personal assistance accessing the program.

(Hint for remembering your child’s ID.  MOST student ID’s are the first four letters of the student’s last name and the last four digits of their Social Security number.  (Example: Weat1234)  There are exceptions.  The password for all students is “Student.”  The system is case sensitive, therefore the first letter of the Logon ID and the Password is a capital letter and the other letters are lower case.)

Should pop-up blockers cause a blank “about” screen to appear when logging on, return to the logon page, re-enter the Logon ID and Password, and then hold down the Ctrl key as you logon. When the Georgia Online Assessment System page appears, release the Ctrl key.

Georgia Online Assessment System (Georgia OAS) is designed to practice answering questions related to the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) or Quality Core Curriculum (QCC) taught for each content area on your child’s grade level.  When your child completes a test, you can access their results and obtain valuable insight into their strengths and weaknesses.  Please consider scheduling a conference with your child’s teacher or teachers to discuss ways that you can add assistance to the success of your child on the CRCT.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to teach your child.  They are special to you and to us.  We want this year to be successful in Academics, Behavior, and Character; the ABC’s of learning.  This goal will require diligence at school and at home.  Together our mission will be to provide your child with the “Power to Succeed.”
